Agricultural School Field Trips

Hundreds of children will be getting lost in the Denton area – 14 miles west of Lincoln. . .

This is one occasion when search parties won't be needed. Area elementary schools are invited to a field trip experience unlike any other. Benson Farms provides a hands-on learning adventure about agriculture and rural Nebraska while the students attempt to find their way through the cornfield maze.

“Planting Seeds of Knowledge” is an educational interactive campaign designed after “Ag-in-the-Classroom.” Students will spend approximately 1 ½ hours at the farm. Activities include: winding their way through a guided tour of the maze, learning about corn and farming, and eating a picnic lunch.

Students will be given the chance to “get lost” on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays beginning on September 25th. The MAiZE’s educational director, Gayla Nelsen, a retired Lincoln Public School teacher, will lead the field trips. The classroom teachers will receive an educational guide containing suggested curriculum to prepare the children for the field trip. The class will take back a planting project to round out the educational experience.

Field Trips: $5.00 per child and adults are free.

To reserve a school field trip call Gayla at 402-435-0418 for availability.
